In general, there are six types of bedrooms dressers. These types include storage dressers, long dressers, armoires, tall dressers, double dressers and custom-made dressers. A dresser is but one piece of furniture that tends to be either décor or a necessity in a bedroom. Each of the different types of dressers has features that meet the needs of the people that using them.

The storage dresser is thought to be one of the first dressers in existence. A storage dresser is somewhat of a misnomer because it is really a storage chest. The storage dresser possesses four sides and a bottom. Owners can put clothes or other possessions in the storage dresser by lifting the top, which is typically hinged for opening and closing.

Long dressers are another one of the types of bedroom dressers. The characteristics of these dressers include the long or wide drawers that the dresser possesses. The majority of these types of dressers come with a mirror that is attached to the back of the dresser, but this is not always the case. These types of dressers come in all types of woods, stains, colors and styles.

An armoire looks more like a cabinet than it does one of the traditional types of dressers. An armoire typically has two doors that open. Inside the armoire, there is a space to hang clothing and there are drawers where clothing is stored.

Tall bedroom dressers tend to be of a more narrow nature. In other words, these dressers go in more of a vertical direction than a horizontal direction, such as that of a long dresser. The amount of storage space inside of the dresser is similar to that of long bedroom dressers, but the tall dresser takes up less floor space in the bedroom than the long dresser.

Double bedroom dressers tend to have anywhere from six to nine drawers. Generally, the drawers are in two or three rows. These dresses tend to be short in height and wide in width.

The final type of bedrooms dressers available are custom-made. For those who cannot find a dresser that meets the specific décor or space needs of the bedroom, the owner may choose to have a dresser custom made to fit these needs. Furniture makers allow buyers to pick out materials and help to design the dressers to meet the needs of the customer.

@simrin-- Have you seen some of the modern dressers? I saw one at the store that had fifteen drawer chests in a variety of sizes. It was made of Italian wood, just gorgeous.

@ankara-- This is why I like short bedrooms dressers with just drawers, but lots and lots of drawers.

My dresser is short and narrow but it has nine drawers. I also like that I can put stuff on top of it. It's kind of a dresser and makeup counter in one.

I have an armoire type bedroom dresser but I don't like it much because it's so bulky. It takes up a lot of space.

It's actually very multi-functional. It has three doors in total. The two doors reveal hanging space, with a drawer above. The third door has five drawer spaces. There is also a mirror on the second door.

I can fit all my clothing in it, I just don't like the size because my bedroom is fairly small.
